Contact From the Underworld of Redboy
Robbie Robertson
Robbie Robertson is one of rock & roll's legendary figures. Although
many legends only look back, Robbie Robertson continues to stretch and
evolve musically. With Contact From the Underworld of Redboy he pays tribute
to his musical roots using the language of today's music. Robbie describes
it best: " 'We're mixing it up. It isn't much different than the
beginning of rock & roll. When this music came down from the mountains
and this other music came up from the Delta and when they met in the middle
it made for something exciting and refreshing , new and old at the same
time"

Life Blood
Joanne Shenandoah (Oneida)
Featuring ancient melodies created by the Huadenosaunee-Iroquois, and
offers an enchanting insight into how the Huadenosaunee (People of the
Longhouse) feel about the living organism they call Mother Earth. Every
song and dance is meant to be a celebration of life and the infinite beauty
of creation. The waters of the Earth are seen as the Life Blood of the
planet. These songs are performed beautifully by Joanne in Iroquois, accompanied
and produced by Peter Kater. Guest artists include shakuhachi flute player
Kazu Matsui and bassist Tony Levin.
Matriarch
Joanne Shenandoah (Oneida)
"The music on this recording are melodies and chants rooted in the
history of the Haudenosaunee (The People of the Longhouse). They were
created in a time beyond memory. They were composed to honor all women
since we are all the lifegivers of our Mother Earth. Recorded at the ancient
village sites of Oneida Territory, I trust you will be moved by these
songs as much as I am."
